Escapism
“Runaway train never going back,
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here nor there”
(Runaway Train – Soul Asylum)
On occasion, I feel like everything is meaningless, and I get the urge to escape. Reality is tiring- I just want something to make me feel alive.
I associate these sort of feelings with youth, and it's rowdy nature. The past five decades, the number of teenagers suffering from depression keeps rising. That's a reality we can't ignore- young people feel pressure from every part of their day-to-day life, and most of them try to find a way out. Either metaphorically, using art- or literally trying to break free.
In this series of photos I want to embody the escapism of today's youth, and their attempts to escape reality.
